Progressive hints — stop when it clicks

Hint 1 — Find a forced crown

Scan for the most constrained region: a color region squeezed into a single row, a single column, or just one or two free cells. On a 7×7 board there is almost always one region with exactly one legal cell. That cell must hold a crown — place it first, no guessing required.

Hint 2 — Eliminate the rest of the line and region

Every time you place a crown, mark an X through its entire row, its entire column, and the rest of its color region — each of those can hold only one crown. On the Medium-level 7×7 grid this elimination usually exposes the next forced crown immediately.

Hint 3 — Watch the diagonal no-touch trap

The rule players miss most: a crown also blocks all eight neighboring cells, including the four diagonals. Before you commit a crown, X out its diagonal neighbors too — many Medium boards hinge on one diagonal conflict that forces a crown into the only remaining cell of a tight region.

Hint 4 — Reveal one region (the only spoiler)

Mild spoiler ahead. Still stuck? Pick the color region with the fewest open cells and solve only that one: apply Hints 1–3 to it in isolation until a single cell survives, then place that crown and let the new X’s cascade. Revealing just one region’s crown is almost always enough to unlock the whole 7×7 board without us handing you the full solution.

Frequently asked questions

Do you republish another platform’s Queens board or solution here?

No. Other platforms’ Queens-style boards are proprietary content, so we never republish their grid or their solution. Crowns is our own free daily crown puzzle with the same one-per-row, one-per-column, one-per-region, no-two-touching logic — these hints teach you to solve Crowns’ board, which you can play right here.

Are these hints spoilers?

Only the last tier reveals a single region’s crown, and it’s clearly labeled. The first three tiers are spoiler-free technique nudges.
